Struggling with what to get your loved one for the next Birthday, Valentine’s Day, or Anniversary? This can be a common occurrence for a lot of people. Those who are new in a relationship, those who have been in a relationship with their loved one for a long time, or for those whose loved one seems to have it all. That is why I LOVE to find and come up with thoughtful gifts. Those once in a lifetime gifts, the gifts that keep on giving. The thoughtful gifts someone can come back to any time and reminisce on.

Here’s a few gifts that I have come up with in the years Chris and I have been together. Thoughtful gifts you can buy, thoughtful gifts you can make, and thoughtful gifts that aren’t really gifts but fun little surprises to do for your loved one.
Gifts You Can Buy + Make
- Write a Book About Them – You can actually write a book about your loved one. Well more of a prompted book, but a book specific to them nonetheless. I love this book “I wrote a book about you”. It prompts you to boast and write all your favorite things about your partner. Not only does it remind yourself why and how much you love them, but it’s sure to be a winner for your loved one as well. There’s also other themed books that are more geared for your relationship, or for your friend. Or for maybe a father’s or mother’s day gift, there are ones both for your mom, and for your dad.
- Make a Cook Book – Create a cook book with all your favorite recipes. For this one I actually created a cook book on Shutterfly. I used pictures of our favorite meals and used those for the book. I then placed our recipes in there, and was able to really personalize it this way. If that seems like it may be too time consuming, you can also purchase a blank recipe book like this one, and just write down your favorite recipes. This version does not allow you to personalize with your own pictures, but it is still a thoughtful gift. A way to look back on all your favorite meals together. This book also has fun little prompts about the chef to make it more personal.
- Paint by Number – There are a few paint by number sites that allow you to upload your own photo. They will then create a paint by numbers canvas to send to you. All you have to do is simply paint away. You’ll then have a fun painting to share with your loved one. Whether it be a picture of the two of you, or of their favorite thing, it’s sure to be a winner.
- Chocolates and Flowers – This is a no brainer. Who doesn’t love chocolates and flowers?
Thoughtful Gifts That Aren’t Really Gifts
- Hide Candy Hearts – Remember those cute little candy hearts? The one’s that had the random conversations and sayings on them? Grab your colorful construction paper and sharpie, write those little sayings down, and hide them around your home. This is great specifically for Valentine’s day, because of the theme of it. Your loved one will love it, and if you hide them well enough, they could be finding them for days to come. Even when they think they’ve found them all. We still have some that I hid around our home still hiding in those same places, a constant reminder of a very fun Valentine’s theme gift.
We hope you’re able to spend some quality time with your loved ones. Both for special occasions, and in everyday life. We love heartfelt, thoughtful gifts and we’re so happy to share some of our favorites so far with you!
